A Different Kind Of Napa

Indian Springs Calistoga is nestled within downtown Calistoga, in the Upper Napa Valley of the California Wine Country. The unique setting of town and country gives our guests the opportunity to relax in a natural environment that’s also part of a vibrant, historic town.

Yes, Calistoga is known for its wines and hot springs but its rich past gives it an authentic charm few Wine Country enclaves can match. Originally settled by Wappo Native Americans, the area changed hands from Spanish colonialists to Mexican ranchos to the first Anglo settlers in the 1840s. Along the way, it became a mining, farming and transportation hub, as well as an early tourist destination due to the presence of thermal water and volcanic ash (for mud baths).

That history led National Trust for Historic Preservation to name Calistoga a Distinctive Destination. Notable Victorian and Mission-style architecture is found throughout the walkable downtown village, home to fine restaurants, galleries and shops, and beyond. Only two-lane roads lead here, making Calistoga slightly rustic and off-the-beaten path – while also satisfying modern tastes.

There’s no denying the latter. Excellent wineries—Chateau Montelena, Sterling, Clos Pegase and Schramsberg to name just a few—are nearby and part of the Napa Valley Calistoga AVA. The Napa Valley itself has even more to offer, including world class dining, wine for every palate, and art and culture. There’s also great hiking just outside our gate. As your hosts, we’re pleased to help create your ultimate Napa Valley adventure.
